The basic components of a vibratory feeder include:
1. Vibrating Base/Drive Unit: This is the main power source that generates the vibrations. It typically consists of an electric, pneumatic or hydraulic vibrator motor with a set of out-of balance weights attached to the shaft. As the motor rotates, the motion of the weights create vibrations, which are transmitted to the feeder, enabling the material to flow.
2. Feeder Trough: The feeder trough holds and orients the materials or parts. It can be made from either mild or stainless steel and has a contoured design to ensure proper flow and orientation of the materials. Depending on the nature of the material, wear plates can be fitted to the trough to increase the lifespan of the machine.

3. Springs: Springs are used to support the feeder and isolate the surrounding structure from the vibrations generated by the drive unit. They help in absorbing shocks and vibrations, providing stability and smooth operation.
4. Control Unit: The control unit regulates the vibration intensity and frequency of the feeder. It allows for adjusting the speed and amplitude of the vibrations as well as the starting and stopping sequence to suit the specific requirements of the process.

It uses vibration to make material travel along a trough at a steady, adjustable rate. Vibratory feeders are widely used across aggregates and minerals, chemicals, food processing, animal feed and many other industries.
A vibratory feeder uses a drive unit fitted with out-of-balance weights on a motor shaft. As the motor turns, the rotating weights create vibrations that pass to the feeder trough, making material move forward in a smooth, even flow. Springs support the unit and isolate the vibration from the surrounding structure, and a control unit adjusts the amplitude and frequency to set the feed rate.
A vibratory feeder generally has four main parts. The drive unit is the power source, using an electric, pneumatic or hydraulic vibrator motor with out-of-balance weights. Vibratory feeders are normally built to order, so there is no single list price. The main factors that affect cost are the throughput in tonnes per hour, the trough size and length, the material being handled (which sets whether mild steel, stainless steel or wear liners are needed), the type of vibrator drive, and any control, enclosure or finish requirements. The most accurate way to budget is to get a quotation based on the material, particle size and feed rate.
The difference is in how the vibration is powered. Electric vibrator motors are the most common and suit most general feeding duties. Pneumatic drives use compressed air and are useful where electric drives are unsuitable, for example in some hazardous or wet environments. Hydraulic drives are used for very heavy duty applications. Each type can produce a linear or circular action depending on the motor arrangement.
Vibratory feeders handle a very wide range of bulk materials, including powders, granules, aggregates and minerals, as well as hot, abrasive or sticky products. The trough material and any wear liners are chosen to suit the application, and stainless steel construction is used for food, chemical and hygienic duties. Fragile products can be handled gently to avoid damage.
The feed rate is set through the control unit, which adjusts the amplitude, the size of the vibration, and on suitable drives the frequency. This lets you speed up or slow down the flow and start or stop the feeder to match the process. Accurate feed control is one of the main reasons vibratory feeders are used for dosing and metering materials.
